No Certifying Body

In Iowa, Community Health Workers (CHWs) are integral members of the healthcare team, working on the front lines to bridge the gap between communities and the healthcare system. CHW Association

At this time, there is no Iowa Community Health Worker Association. However, CHWs and stakeholders in Iowa are encouraged to connect with national CHW organizations and the Iowa Chronic Care Consortium for support, advocacy, and professional development opportunities.

Medicaid Reimbursement

CHWs in Iowa work in a variety of settings, including community-based organizations, health care facilities, and public health agencies. While direct reimbursement policies for CHW services through Medicaid or other insurers may vary, there is growing recognition of the value CHWs bring to the healthcare system in Iowa.
