Certifying Body
In Massachusetts, The Massachusetts Board of Certification of Community Health Workers, operating under the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, oversees the certification process.
Certification Requirements
To become certified, CHWs must complete an approved training program and demonstrate experience in the field. Applicants are required to pass a competency exam that covers a broad range of skills necessary for effective community health work.
Renewal and Continuing Education
CHWs must renew their certification every two years, including completing continuing education units (CEUs) to stay current with the evolving public health landscape.
The NCHW™ Registry recognizes the importance of these professional development opportunities and aims to connect California CHWs with premier training options.
