State Certification Information

Certifying Body

To become a certified Community Health Worker in Texas, you need to be a resident, at least 16 years old, and complete an approved 160-hour competency-based training program offered by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS).

The NCHW™ Registry recognizes the importance of these professional development opportunities and aims to connect Texas CHWs with premier training options.

CHW Association

We encourage CHWs in Texas to connect with the Texas Association of Promotores & Community Health Workers.
